Hey all,
After having a long break from music, hearing and playing (the guitar), I'm back.
I got the new Opeth album as soon as it was released (leaked), as I'm a huge Opeth fan. To be honest I didn't like it at first, with no growling and no heavy stuff, I was disappointed. Then Hollywood141 as usual made a music blog, reviewing the album, I liked what I read, so I decided to give it another listen or more.
So after listening to it 2 times, I felt it, I felt the music, and what Opeth tried to do here, change their direction, as always, and doing what they like. Heritage (the album) is not as good as their older stuff for sure, but it's good, has good music, with a little 70's metal inspiration (as described by hollywood141), you should read his review here.
So I thought I'd recommend some of the songs by Opeth I'm listening to right now.
Those are from the heavier side of Opeth, their original side, but there are some great mellow music in between, so I'll post the songs, and write under each one the minutes in which you can find them, so if you don't like the start of the song, skip to the classical music, it might get you interested in the whole song, here we go:
Small Mellow part: 1:45
Mellow part: 2:46
Also the outro part is very nice, try to check out the whole track, it's amazing.
This song from start to end, is awesome, just awesome. Definitely from my fav. songs of all time.
Best mellow part EVAR *lols*: 5:05
Mellow part: 2:34
If you liked any of those, be sure to check Damnation, it's all clean and classical music, a true masterpiece, and there are a lot of awesome mellow parts between their songs if you don't like heavy stuff.
Here's something from Damnation
Enjoy!
